Russell and Lewis were the men running the show, but Geller’s contacts opened City up to a whole new celebrity world. Jackson was a good friend of the the then celebrity co-chairman Uri Geller, who had not long taken over the club, along with John Russell (co-chairman), Mike Lewis (vice-chairman) an Geller’s son, Daniel (non-executive vice chairman). Billed as a charity event, designed to raise money for both Exeter City and children’s charities, the day that Michael Jackson came to St James Park should have been one of celebration and fondly remembered in the annuls of Grecian history.
